SNAP

the challenge

Teresa Tan-Vialheads up the Talent Acquisition team at SNAP, Inc. She needed to convene her six-member leadership team to revisit and realign strategy in advance of fall corporate planning and budgeting sessions. The Talent Acquisition leaders needed to proactively realign their efforts to best support SNAP’s ambitious growth plans. Tan-Vial’s team gathered to decide how to scale their function to best support SNAP’s substantial growth.

How Did We Do It?

Our approach was unique and custom to the needs of SNAP Talent Acquisition. At Springboard, we believe in meeting the client where they are. In this project, the team already had a solid foundation - a clear corporate strategy and distinct growth expectations.

Springboard designed and facilitated a remote workshop across four cities. By the end of the day, we accomplished two things:

  • Established three big department strategies critical to enable/support SNAP’s substantial growth expectations.

  • Identified and began to solve the greatest friction points in the hiring process. From the first recruiting call, to site visits to onboarding, Talent Acquisition is the first point of contact new employees have with SNAP. With an aim to design a best in class recruiting experience, the team created and codified a hiring experience journey map. This map will serve as a framework for continuous improvement over the coming months.

What Did It Take?

Making Time and Space for Strategy - Wise leaders like Teresa, intentionally carve out time to think and work with teams on their business (not just in their business).

Leadership Decision Making - One quality of good leaders - They make and communicate sometimes tough decisions. This team demonstrated discipline and foresight to gather the right people, deliberate and make informed decisions.

Flexibility and Creativity - Every project has constraints - time, resources, location or scope. SNAP and Springboard carefully collaborated to design a virtual offsite that made the most of our time together.
